If the vehicle is exempt from the MLI laws, the REINSTATEMENT FEE WOULD NOT BE DUE. You should submit your “Exempt” response to that inquiry. Upon providing a stored or inoperable response, the department will revoke the current registration. A new tag/ registration must be obtained before operating the vehicle again. In accordance with Rule 810-5-1-.234, a personalized message plate can be reissued upon payment of the standard and additional registration fees before operating the vehicle again.
